Point Kids
This term at Point Kids we will be giving money to a variety of projects with our ‘pennies for people’ offering. Each week there will be an opportunity for the children to make a donation of small change to help people in need. At the end of each month we will share on the church weekly email how much was raised and which project it has been donated to.  Point Kids Memory Verse Challenge Every week this term our Primary school age kids will be learning a memory verse from the Bible to help them learn about Jesus and get to know him for themselves. Each week there will be a small prize for every child who knows the previous weeks memory verse. The verse will always be on the weekly bible reading notes. This weeks memory verse is: Psalm 107:20, “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.” If you would like anymore information about any of the kids groups and ministries at the Point please email: liz@thepointchurch.co.uk

Mission Team to Haiti – 5-19 Feb 2018
We are so looking forward to visiting our amazing mission partners, Yvrose and Pierre Richard at Hope House Haiti.  The team consists of Will Kemp, Rob and Jo Glew, Angie Vacher and Verena Powell.  We will be running a Prayer Space in Hope House Academy (the school that now has over 1000 students) and visiting the 3 teachers that we sponsor as a church.  We will also be seeing the new farming project (for which we raised £3000 at our Christmas Appeal this year) and travelling with Yvrose to local villages with no church to do evangelism and distribute food and clothing.  Please pray for us.  We so want to be an encouragement, to bring God’s presence wherever we go, to take opportunities to share Jesus with everyone we meet, and to learn from the beautiful family at Hope House who are so full of faith and love for God.  Please also pray for protection – there is a lot of occult activity in Haiti and much opposition to the Kingdom of God, but we know Jesus is Lord, He has the victory. Keep an eye on The Point Facebook page for updates while we are away.  Thanks so much, Will and the team.

Samara Aid Appeal
A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the Samara Aid Appeal this year. Whether it was buying, donating or packing it all added up to a brilliant effort. Emma would have been very pleased. To start with it felt like a big responsibility but with God’s love and guidance we did it. We donated 47 boxes, which is brilliant, plus other un-boxed items such as blankets and quilts. The picture is of the warehouse showing what has been collected in the South. The boxes have now been loaded onto the lorry and have begun their journey to Syria, Iraq and The Lebanon. The picture shows some of the boxes collected from Sussex at the warehouse.

The Circle of Security Parenting Course
The Circle of Security Parenting Course consists of eight 2-hour sessions comprising DVD clips, hand-outs, reflection and discussion.  The course is based on Attachment Theory and research, and is aimed primarily at parents of pre-school children,  but is really valuable for any parent.  It is not a “Christian” course, but its values are really in line with ours, because at its heart it is about relationship, and helping parents to be/become a secure base and a safe haven of security for our children.  It will be running on Wednesday evenings, 7.45 – 9.45 pm starting on 31st January, at Mark and Sarah Steels’ home in Burgess Hill.  Cost: £20 per person or £30 per couple (concessions available).  If you are interested, email Caroline Kemp caroline@thepointchurch.co.ukfor more information, but hurry because spaces are limited!   Ash Wednesday ServicesFebruary 14th 10 am and 7:30pm at St Margaret’s Parish Church, Ditchling. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. Its official name is “Day of Ashes,” so called because of the practice of rubbing ashes on one’s forehead in the sign of a cross. Since it is exactly 40 days (excluding Sundays) before Easter Sunday, it will always fall on a Wednesday—there cannot be an “Ash Thursday” or “Ash Monday.” Lent is a time to reflect, a time of self-denial to remember Jesus in the wilderness and the time of temptation. It is a time also for us to reflect and lay aside anything which we know distracts us from God – or alternatively to take something up to draw us closer to him.
