Christmas Appeal – don’t wait for Sunday, you can transfer your gift now!
At The Point we always give generously at Christmas! This year for our Christmas Appeal we are supporting three amazing organisations:
Samara’s Aid– supporting displaced people in Syria. The civil war in Syria has left millions of people displaced and in desperate need. Winter is the toughest time of year. Over the last few years Samara’s Aid have sent out over 100 shipping containers of aid and continue to provide for many. We had planned to collect good quality clothing for this charity, but we found out this week that the Assad regime are stopping any charity lorries going into the country, so unfortunately we cannot collect clothing. Our financial gift will go towards the 200 bed hospital that Samara’s Aid are now planning to build. (If you have been collecting clothing already, there a few items Off the Fence need – please see below)
The Haven, Crisis Pregnancy Centre – The Haven, based in Burgess Hill, offer counselling and advice to those affected by unplanned pregnancy, abortion and pregnancy loss. There is a schools education programme for children in years 9 and 10 (14 and 15 year olds) and bereavement counselling for those coming to terms with pregnancy loss. Our very own Caroline Kemp has recently been appointed Centre Manager of this local charity which was set up by the churches in Mid Sussex about 20 years ago.
Antifreeze, Off The Fence – Our Mission Partner “Off the Fence”, headed up by Paul and Wendy Young from The Point, are continuing their vital work with homeless and vulnerable adults in Brighton and Hove. Sleeping bags and other emergency supplies are desperately needed in the winter months. We are also collecting socks, gloves, men’s boxers and any thermal underwear – please bring to the Christmas services.
Please give generously to those in need this Christmas. We will be taking up an offering at all our Christmas Services throughout December. You can make Cheques payable to The Point (put Christmas Appeal on the back) or transfer money to The Point bank account: sort code 20-12-75 account number 13041670 (ref Christmas Appeal) – and don’t forget the Gift Aid! Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for all who came to this quiz in November to raise money for Tearfund. We sent off £451.70 to Tearfund today.
